Katie’s Interview

What is your (1) favorite book quote OR (2) favorite movie quote?

I think most would answer this question with some deep, meaningful, and impactful quotes. But that just isn’t me. Nothing means more to me than laughing. So when Max Monroe put out a book called Tapping the Billionaire, that is where I found my favorite book moment. Chapter 10—Georgia nicknames the football players while giving play by play to Kline and Thatch on the phone. One quote wouldn’t have sufficed. And I feel this is worth mentioning because I reread that book every time I need that moment in my life.

Laughter is always good medicine!

When you try to fall asleep, a song keeps playing over and over in your head and you can’t sleep. Do you (1) pick up a book to read OR (2) try to think of a different song?

I turn over and ask Alexa to play said song for me. If I manage to stay awake until it’s over, I usually opt to read. Reading is the only thing I do 100% on my own that affects no one but myself. Days are demanding and tending to the needs around me is exhausting. Even turning on the TV affects those around me. So I read. Every second I can, I read.

Reading is a pleasurable escape!

What is your favorite (1) song OR (2) book?

This is a loaded question. I could name at least 50 for each category but couldn’t even place an order on them. I can, however, say I am 100% all-in with romance—whether it be songs or books. I love LOVE and I have had amazing love in my life. But life gets hard and exhausting and sad sometimes. So romance and happily ever afters is my favorite. I need those moments to balance the crazy in real life.

A loving balance!

Do you prefer to read (1) an e-book OR (2) a paperback?

This may not be a popular answer. But I prefer the e-book. A sign of my age? I don’t know. But I like the discretion that e-books allow. I can read 50 Shade of Grey in the doctor’s office and no one will see my cover and judge who I am. With that being said, I buy all my absolute favorites in hardback or paperback and add them to my shelf of forever reads.

What a great way to handle your books!

Are you a person who (1) makes and follows New Year resolutions OR (2) never bothers with resolutions?

My birthday is on December 31st. So I do not consider myself a New Year’s resolution kind of girl. I am more along the lines of an “I am a year older today, how do I want to spend my next age?” kind of girl. I give myself goals for the age I am. When I turned 36, I told myself I would publish my book before I turned 37—and I did.

What an awesome resolution to keep! Thanks for participating, Katie!

Gail’s Interview

You prefer to watch (1) a sunrise OR (2) a sunset.?

Both are beautiful, of course, but I love the sunrise as it means a new day, new excitement, new beginnings. While most people love the colors of Fall, I love Spring the most and for the same reasons, a fresh start.

Very good reasons! You prefer (1) to eat a home-cooked meal with family and friends OR (2) to eat in a big-name restaurant.

I am and always have been a homebody and I love to cook. I owned a small local breakfast diner for a few years and did all the prep and cooking. My husband laughs because to this day, I cook in massive amounts even though it’s just the two of us now.

I think it’s much harder to cook small amounts than large ones! You can travel back in time. Will you go back (1) 10 years OR (2) 25 years.

Ten years would be perfect for me. I had just divorced my first husband after a long-term marriage and for the first time, I was able to be my fun, independent self. I’ve had a blast the last ten years and hope it continues many more!!

It’s always a good idea to be true to yourself! The most important event in the past century was (1) the moon landing OR (2) the Berlin Wall coming down.

Oh, I’m glad you asked this question. I have family in Poland, yet I had never met them in person. One year after the Berlin Wall came down, I invited my cousin’s two teenage boys to visit us for a month. They were the same ages as my children and it was their first time on a plane, first time in the U.S. because of the Wall. It was a wonderful month and we’ve remained very close to them ever since.

I bet  they had the time of their lives! What provides more inspiration to you: (1) art OR (2) nature?

Well, this one is very hard. My dad was a painter and sculptor and I spent most of my childhood visiting art galleries. I have an abundance of his artwork in my home, and a great appreciation for art. So, I should say art, shouldn’t I? But my answer is nature, for there is nothing more beautiful, naturally, than every aspect of nature and it always put me at peace.

It was hard for a good reason! Thanks for participating, Gail!

Jeff’s Interview

What is your (1) favorite book quote OR (2) favorite movie quote?

Book quote: “Not all those who wander are lost.” – J.R.R. Tolkein, The Fellowship of the Ring. The Tolkein quote just has such a personal ring to it. It can mean so many things, or something so incredibly simple, too.

Movie quote: (I have so many, but I’ll pick…) “Dyin’ ain’t much of a livin’, boy.” Clint Eastwood, The Outlaw Josey Wales. The Josey Wales line is just plain Eastwood cool.

Couldn’t decide on one or the other. That’s all right. It would be hard to decide between those two! You prefer to watch (1) a sunrise OR (2) a sunset?

Sunset. There’s something about the way the sky is burning just before the sun disappears. Went to Key West once where you can see either a sunrise or sunset depending on which side of the island you’re standing on (tiny island), and everyone chose sunsets to plan around. Plus, you have dinner, then maybe some fun at night. After sunrise is just daytime. Blah.

Interesting perspective. Are you a person who (1) makes and follows New Year resolutions OR (2) never bothers with resolutions?

Always make ‘em, usually don’t keep ‘em. I’m hopeful and optimistic, so I want to improve. I’m also lazy and a procrastinator. They lend themselves to breaking promises with myself.

Guess that’s better than procrastinating to make a resolution! What is your favorite (1) song OR (2) book?

I have several favorite songs, not just one. When any of these come on, I either turn up the volume to jam or stop what I’m doing to listen:

  1. Wanderlust – Paul McCartney
  2. Ballroom Blitz – Sweet
  3. On the Loose – Saga
  4. Telegraph Road – Dire Straits
  5. Bad (live) – U2
  6. Stay a Little Longer – Brothers Osborne
  7. Roll With the Changes -REO Speedwagon
  8. Welcome to the Pleasuredome – Frankie Goes to Hollywood

Who knows why any song gets to anyone?

Matter of perspective? Your significant other or child asked you to do something you don’t like to do. Do you (1) grin and bear it OR (2) mumble to yourself while doing the task?

Grin and bear it most of the time. My GF loves horror movies and asks me to go to the theaters with her to see them. The ones that don’t make me nauseous I will go with her so she’s not alone. I enjoy a good monster flick, but don’t like haunted or psychological horror, which is what she likes.

Why would I go? Duh, cuz I love her.

Definitely a good reason! Thanks for participating, Jeff!

Dove’s Interview

Science has advanced and we can now colonize other planets. Do you (1) sign up to be a colonist OR (2) remain on Earth?

I’d have to know how long we’ve been colonizing other planets for! I wouldn’t be one of the first. I have actually never even flown on an airplane before, so I don’t think I’d be volunteering to get on the first spaceship! But if the planets had been colonized for a long time….yeah, I just might! Some adventure, for sure!

You reveal a true adventuresome spirit. You prefer to watch (1) a sunrise OR (2) a sunset.

That’s a tough one; they’re both so beautiful! I’m definitely a night owl, though, so I’ll say sunset. Something about the sun going down while the blanket of night takes over, the sky darkening and the stars coming out of hiding-it’s magical!

Sunsets are awesome! You prefer (1) to eat a home-cooked meal with family and friends OR (2) to eat in a big-name restaurant.

I’d go out to eat at a big-name restaurant! We’re a large family, seven of us, and I do all the cooking. If I can get a night off, I’m all over that!

That’s understandable! Do you prefer to read (1) an e-book OR (2) a paperback?

A paperback! E-books are great and definitely have their place in the reading world. But they will never replace actual books, and I always choose the paperback option if I can!

What an honest answer. You’re shopping for a present for a child. Do you buy a stuffed (1) purple elephant or (2) lime green with red spots dog?

Oo, I like this question–it feels like there is some psychological meaning to my answer! Or maybe I don’t want to know…. I’ll pick the purple elephant! I love purple, and I’d rather have an elephant than a dog. So am I crazy?

Only as crazy as any author may be! Thanks for participating, Dove!
